Dear reader, friend, visitor, what-have-you —
If I don’t make these bullet points, I’ll end up writing something the length of War and Peace:
-
- I’ve been working on screenplays (and two are with directors and producers now, and others are in a waiting period), as well as finishing novels. I’m hoping to get a new book out soon but…
- Don’t ask me which one or if it’s a sequel to something in the past. It’s not. The new one will be a book I’d been writing that I’ve converted into a screenplay in order to give myself a strong outline (but also because a production company wants to make the movie, therefore: screenplay done.)
- What I’ve learned from the discipline of screenwriting is invaluable to me as a writer of novels.
- I’m going to address more in the very next blog post.
For your entertainment, a photo of me when I was studying in London when I was 21-22ish, with my Riverside Shakespeare and messy area, and my friend Fred Smith’s hat on, looking like I’d spent the previous night at a pub (might’ve just been jet lag). Two things strike me: my high school class ring on my finger, which I lost at one point a few years later when I was helping (along with others also helping) people get their cars dug out of the ice and snow after a terrible snowstorm in Washington, D.C. The other thing I notice is that as a photo of a messy desk goes, this is nowhere near as messy as my office desk is right at this moment. Oh, and how slouchy I am. I slouch less now, Mom!Thanks, Fred, for your permission to use this photo.
